Joe Lotzer was an original member of the Fond du Lac Bears. After five seasons with the Bears, he enrolled at Illinois in 1939 where he captained the varsity team from 1939–1942. He returned after the war and played for the Bears before moving to Milwaukee where he continued to play with the Milwaukee team. He was a star forward.
