  • O’Brien, Richard - 1990
Dick O’Brien is responsible for building the two artificial ice rinks in Eau Claire. He spent countless hours acquiring funds—two million dollars, as well as designing the facility. He helped start the two high school programs. Without the rinks, there would be no college hockey in Eau Claire.  He served on many community projects and served as president of the youth hockey organization. He also coached youth hockey.

The City of Eau Claire named the main arena the Dick O’Brien Arena.
