Marlowe Suter, a talented senior hockey player in the 1950s, was selected as the MVP in the 1958 state tournament. During the 1960s and 1970s, Suter coached all levels of youth hockey with the Madison Lakers and Madison Capitols programs. Suter was recognized as one of the finest youth coaches in the country. Suter’s sons John, Bob, and Gary all played defense for the University of Wisconsin. Bob was a member of the 1980 Olympic team while Gary had a lengthy NHL career. Suter’s grandson Ryan is currently a member of the Minnesota Wild.
